She Is Given Water
for the woman in ER
She is Given Water
Cold penetrates her bones.
Trembling—ice in veins.
Salt tears flood.
Pain and sorrow
assume home in bone—
marrow, too.
A monastery bell rings.
Yet what is real—
what is believed—
To whom does she hand pain—
now on fire, fevered…
She screams,
removes her clothes,
stands naked—
without shame—
before all.
She is given water.
An hour later.
Systems shatter.
Still,
those who bow believe
all is well—
even now.
